Global Survey ICPD Beyond 2014

The United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is collaborating with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on the implementation of the General Assembly resolution 65/234 of 22 December 2010 on the Follow-up to the International Conference on Population and Development beyond 2014, which inter alia, requested that UNFPA, in consultation with Member States and in cooperation with other relevant international organizations, undertake an operational review of the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).

Issue: Social Protection
Income support schemes have emerged as a widespread response to protect vulnerable populations in the aftermath of the recent global economic crisis. While being commonly applied, a compilation and analysis of the various possible income support arrangements has not been undertaken to date. This project aims to enhance social protection by compiling and analyzing current practices and experiences of selected countries in the Asia-Pacific region in developing and implementing income support programmes.

Issue: Disability

The Disability, Livelihoods and Poverty project focuses on understanding the dynamics of disability, livelihoods and poverty from the voices of persons with disabilities themselves. ESCAP is partnering with disabled persons organisations (DPOs) in eight countries to conduct both quantitative and qualitative action research to generate new data on the livelihoods of persons with disabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
